A POPULAR Worcestershire festival has just announced a new headline act for 2024.
Sunshine Festival, in Upton-upon-Severn, has confirmed David Essex OBE, as its latest headline act in its special fifteenth anniversary year.
He will be appearing at the festival as part of his 20 date UK tour for August and September 2024, culminating at the London Palladium.
David Essex OBE joins acts such as The Boomtown Rats, Altered Images and The Wurzels, who have all been confirmed at the festival.
Essex came to prominence in the 1970s and in the time since has gained 19 Top 40 singles in the UK including two number ones along with 16 Top 40 albums.
Internationally, his biggest success was with his 1973 single Rock On and Essex has also enjoyed an extensive career as an actor.
In January 2011, it was announced that Essex was joining the cast of EastEnders as Eddie Moon. He stayed in the role until October of the same year.
The Sunshine Music Festival had a successful 2023 event earlier this year, in August, which saw artists such as Ronan Keating, Marc Almond of Soft Cell and 10CC, alongside talented local performers performing across five stages.
The 2024 festival is being held between Tuesday, August 22 and Sunday, August 25, at Fish Meadow.
