A children's charity has received donations of pyjamas from a Worcestershire swim school.

Puddle Ducks Worcestershire, a baby and child swim school, recently collected for Children’s Hospital Pyjamas during their annual Water Safety Awareness Week.

Children’s Hospital Pyjamas is a national charity which accepts donations of new nightwear for hospitals, hospices, school hospital teams, and women’s refuges.

Last year, the swim school delivered 96 pairs of pyjamas to Worcestershire Royal Hospital, which they hope to surpass this total this year.

While the children enjoyed their swim sessions wearing pyjamas, it also taught an important lesson, allowing them to get a feel of swimming in clothes.

A spokesperson for Children’s Hospital Pyjamas said: "No child wants to be in hospital, but if they have to be, they don’t want to be wearing a hospital gown.

"With Puddle Ducks’ support, this year we have surpassed last year’s total establishments we donated to, from just under 200, we will now be able to gift pyjamas to in excess of 218 establishments.

They continued: "Thus, providing more children who are inpatients in our receiving hospitals with a brand-new pair of comfy pyjamas, knowing that someone is wishing them well, a speedy recovery and thinking of them.

"A massive thank you to Puddle Ducks for helping us to continue to create smiles, we truly appreciate the support".

Suzanne Horton, owner of Puddle Ducks Worcestershire said: "Yet again our Water Safety Awareness Week has been a great success!

"Knowing we are helping so many children makes me really proud.

She added: "We had collection points at all of our pools and the donations will once again be sent to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

"The children not only had a great time getting involved, knowing they were helping other children, but at the same time were also learning some really important skills as well".

The school offers swimming lessons for children aged 0-10 years across Worcestershire.
