A county councillor has met with Upton traders to discuss ways to support the town.
Martin Allen met with local businesses last week to hear their views and discuss ways to support traders in Upton to thrive.
Chairing a meeting of the Upton Traders group on Thursday, October 19, Cllr Allen shared details of funding that local businesses can apply for.
The business representatives identified a Christmas tree campaign as their upcoming priority, and will be supported by local grants to have trees with lights installed outside each shop.
This will not only bring some additional festive cheer to the streets of Upton-upon-Severn but will also encourage people to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their area.
Speaking about the “productive” meeting, Cllr Allen said: “I love working with the business community here in Upton, and I get a real buzz helping them.”
“When you buy from a shop here, you’re buying from a local, you’re making a difference to a local family, and you’re keeping a great town alive.”
