Upton High Street is set to be lined with people to celebrate the life of a man who died in a crash last month.

Dean George and Alex Teasdale died after a crash involving the horse-and-trap they were riding in and a blue Volkswagen Golf.

The incident happened on the A38 near junction 1 of the motorway at about 11.35pm on Friday, September 15.

Family and friends of Mr George have been invited to line Upton High Street at 1.30pm on Tuesday, October 17 to give him a final send off before his funeral service.

Mourners have been asked to dress not in black, but in colourful or ‘country’ attire - Mr George is said to have been a keen supporter of country pursuits including shooting.

An online fundraiser started in Mr George’s memory described him as “the life of the party” and “the type of bloke who would lend you his last pound even if it meant he would run out of fuel on the way home”.

At the time of writing, the GoFundMe page has raised £6,619 from 200 donations.

“There is little we can do to ease the suffering of his family in this dark time,” wrote fundraiser organiser Frederick Lechmere.

“Our hope is just to give them some light at the end of the tunnel and help them through this time in any way we can.

“To that end we ask, not for your last pound, but if you have any to spare to help his family it would be greatly appreciated.”

Gloucestershire Police said: “Two men, both from Worcestershire, who were riding in the trap, and the horse were declared dead at the scene.”

The force also said the coroner had been informed.

No other people were believed to have been injured in the collision.

Anybody who may have been in the area at the time is being asked to come forward and speak to police.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has relevant dashcam footage is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary through the website, quoting incident 563 of 15 September: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-matter-involving-driving-vehicles-or-a-road-traffic-incident/
