NEW deterrents at a busy retail park have been installed and more are coming to help stop anti-social behaviour.

New anti-social behaviour signs have been placed around Malvern Shopping Park, Roman Way, warning people about their manner of driving and the police's use of Section 59 orders.

West Mercia Police has also been liaising with Malvern Hills District Council and should soon be having a camera installed at the entrance to the retail park to identify number plates.

Officers were patrolling the area on Saturday (September 9) and although no racing or anti-social behaviour was seen a number of drivers were spoken to and moved away from the area.

What are Section 59 Orders?

Section 59 orders are handed out when a police constable in uniform has reasonable grounds for believing that a vehicle is being used carelessly and inconsiderately, causing alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public.

A constable in uniform has the power to order the person driving to stop the vehicle, to seize and remove the vehicle, to enter any premises (other than a dwelling) on/in which the officer has reasonable grounds for believing the motor vehicle to be and to use reasonable force where necessary, in order to do so
