Police have advised that bikes should be secured to the ground or wall, and a blanket can be put over it so it is out of site.
They added that many burglars will first try a garden shed or garage to find tools to break into a house.
How can I protect my garden shed from theft?
West Mercia Police said many people will use a single lock to protect their shed, but more is needed to deter thieves.
Police have advised people to get a battery-operated alarm system to deter thieves.
A strong padlock on the door, with no exposed screws and ensuring the hinges cannot be removed, can also prevent theft.
Tools should be locked away in a safe place within the shed so burglaries cannot access them to commit more crimes.
