Popular children’s author Julia Donaldson visited a Malvern bookshop and met with dozens of young fans.
The beloved author and former Children’s Laureate appeared at the Malvern Book Coop in Great Malvern on Thursday, August 24.
Her appearance was a sell-out, with 80 families queuing up to meet Donaldson and perhaps her most famous character, the Gruffalo.
Donaldson, who has written more than 100 children’s books including Zog, Room on the Broom and The Snail and the Whale, also brought along her husband Malcolm.
“She generously spent over two hours chatting to thrilled Malvern children and their parents, and of course signed lots of her books,” said the bookshop’s Jacquie Rogers.

“As well as the Gruffalo, Julia brought along her guitar-playing husband Malcolm to entertain eager families, while they waited to meet the famous author.
“People even queued in the forecourt at the Red Lion pub (thanks to them for gracious permission).
“The exciting morning was rounded off by a popular children’s art competition. The many entries included pictures and models inspired by Julia’s books. All in all, a day to remember. And no-one was eaten by the Gruffalo!”
