A WOMAN was violently attacked by a bull mastiff in Malvern while walking her dog.

Julie Lowe and her shih tzu and chihuahua cross, Molly, were walking down Bramble Close when a dog jumped over a "seven-foot" fence and attacked them.

Her partner, Andrew Prosser, said it was lucky their dog Molly was not killed due to the unprovoked attack and that there was no owner to be seen.

"They just came through the front door covered in blood - blood was everywhere across the door, all over the door handle," Mr Prosser said.

"She's now covered in plasters where the teeth marks are and on antibiotics, and the dog is on them too."

Miss Lowe was taken to A&E for her injuries to be treated, and Molly had to go to the vet after suffering from puncture wounds under her arms.

During the attack, Miss Lowe described how the dog had jumped on her chest, and she had to "boot and kick" to get it off.

Mr Prosser added: "My partner took me there (Bramble Close) to show me what happened, and she couldn't even walk down the alley.

"I couldn't even see over the fence he jumped over, and I am six-foot-one.

"The dog broke the top of the fence where he jumped over."

West Mercia Police have been informed about the attack and are carrying out enquiries with the dog liaison officer.

However, Mr Prosser and Miss Lowe fear the incident may happen again if nothing is done soon.

A West Merica Police spokesperson said: "We received a call around 5.40pm, on Wednesday evening (16 August) about an incident involving a dog.

"The incident happened on Bramble Close in Malvern, and one lady was injured by the animal.

"Enquiries are being carried out by our dog liaison officer."

Last month, two dog attacks occurred on the same day in Worcester.

A nine-year-old boy suffered a severe leg injury caused by a dog at home in Portefields Road, while a family of three - one fighting for her life in hospital - was attacked by their family dog in Boughton Avenue.
