A MUM-of-two took a "leap of faith" by starting her own business and now she is in the running for a prestigious award.

Beth Drew started her new business in December and after putting her "heart and soul" into it she has been selected as a finalist for the ‘rising star’ category at the UK Beauty Awards 2023.

She also opened up her own clinic on Court Road in Malvern in January.

Mrs Drew is a practising midwife who wanted to reduce her hours at the NHS after her second son was born last year.

She said: "I am still a part-time midwife and I have two young boys.

"Working can be really difficult when you have a young family, and the NHS can be quite a difficult place to work.

"I decided to drop some of my hours at the NHS.

"I never thought I would start my own business, I always thought I would stay in home care.

"But when my second boy was born, I thought, what can I do that will give me more time."

During her maternity leave, Mrs Drew decided to do some training courses.

"I didn't do business at uni, I did health care, and it has come as a bit of a challenge.

"I started my training during my maternity leave, I was breastfeeding in one hand and doing my training in the other."

Mrs Drew's business has been nominated just eight months after starting.

She said: "It felt very surreal when I was nominated, it was a nod from the universe that I was on the right path.

"It was nice to have my hard work recognised, it is quite humbling."

Mrs Drew said she thought the business was going to be a side hobby but then she fell in love with the work.

She said: "My goal when I first started was to have two clients a week, but now I have 10-15 clients a week, so I have smashed that goal."

Drew Aesthetics offers services such as anti-wrinkling injections, dermo-fillers for chin and jaw and skin-based treatment.
