A new care home has been officially opened in Malvern.
Elgar Court, a luxury care home off St Andrew’s Road, was opened by Malvern mayor Clive Hooper on Thursday, July 27.
The home, which has 66 bedrooms and landscaped gardens, is now welcoming its first residents.
The opening event was hosted by the Elgar Court general manager Sarah Cadwallader and Dr Pete Calveley, the chief executive of care home group Barchester.
Sarah Cadwallader said: “We are delighted our home is now open, our residents are at the heart of everything we do at Elgar Court, and we look forward to welcoming them and their families, and becoming an intrinsic part of the local community.

“We take pride in really getting to know each of our residents to provide tailored care and support, ensuring dignity and choice in every aspect of daily life.”
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Cllr Hooper said: “I must say that I have been greatly impressed with your splendid building and its superb facilities, and with the staff whom I have met.
“In a home like this - particularly one which includes provision for those with dementia, respite care and short-term breaks - it is vital that the members of staff are completely dedicated and that the residents are treated with the utmost dignity and respect.
“From what I have seen today, and what I have heard about Barchester's other homes, I am sure that those requirements will be met here.
“I wish the team at Elgar Court all the best for the future and hope that the residents who live here in our lovely town will find it provides all they need.”
Dr Pete Calveley said: “Elgar Court is going to be a wonderful home, Sarah and her team here will offer personalised care for the people of Malvern and the surrounding area in this lovely setting.
“We’re thrilled to add Elgar Court to our Barchester family of quality care homes and hospitals.”
