A new doughnut shop is getting ready to open in Malvern.
Dirty D’s, which has been teasing its arrival for a while on Instagram, will open in Church Walk on Saturday, July 15.
And owner Craig Johnson, who is also personal trainer, is excited.
“I’ve always liked doughnuts, and I like coffee as well,” he said. “I live a really healthy lifestyle but I do enjoy naughty things as well.
“The idea of doing something like this has always been in the back of my mind and I got to a point in my life when I thought, why not go for it? Make something happen.”
Craig will already be a familiar face to many as he owns Matrix Fitness in Malvern Link.
But he doesn’t see his two businesses as being in conflict with each other.

“Our ethos at the gym is to aim to live an 80/20 lifestyle, so 80 per cent eating healthily and being active, and 20 per cent enjoying the sweet stuff and the really nice things in life,” he said.
“Because actually that’s what it’s all about - striking that balance and being happy and fulfilled.”
One wall of the new shop features doughnut graffiti by Mr SCE and another is dedicated to the musical history of Malvern and features artists that have performed at Malvern Winter Gardens.
“I’m very into music and so is my girlfriend Jess, so we thought it would be a cool idea to reflect some of Malvern’s music history in the shop,” said Craig.
“Our coffee is from a Spetchley-based company, Studio Roasters, who make very, very nice coffee.
“And the doughnuts will be made fresh on site every day.”
Craig’s hopes for the shop are simple, in the short-term at least.
“I hope everyone in Malvern comes and enjoys our doughnuts - they are fantastic,” he said.
“But the sky’s the limit - I hope at some point that this shop isn’t the only Dirty D’s that exists, that we can set up in another town and delve into their musical history.”
