FIVE damaged cables are to blame for the broadband problems people are experiencing around the Malvern area.
Openreach, the company that looks after the national broadband network, said the underground cables were damaged yesterday afternoon (July 6).
This has caused customers of companies such as Sky, BT, TalkTalk, Vodafone and Plusnet to experience broadband issues since about 3pm yesterday.
People have reported seeing engineers working through the night to fix the issue.
A spokesperson for Openreach said: “Engineers are working hard to replace five damaged underground cables in the Malvern area, which are disrupting broadband for local homes and businesses.
“Work started yesterday, as soon as we found out about the damage, and two of the five cables are repaired. Work is already underway on the third cable and is going well. It’s a complex and time-consuming job but we’re doing everything we can to get the rest of the work finished as quickly and safely as possible.
“We understand that being without broadband is hugely disruptive for everyday life, and would like to reassure local people that we’re doing all we can to reconnect them as quickly as possible.”
