Residents are objecting to plans to build 70 homes in a Worcestershire village calling them "ludicrous" and "horrendous".
Kendrick Homes submitted plans for a large new estate off Saffron Grove in Tunnel Hill.
The proposed homes would be built on land that is currently used for agriculture but is allocated for housing in the South Worcestershire Development Plan.
Neighbours are unhappy with the plans, though, claiming they had been told the field would not be built on.
"Having recently moved into this property I was told there would not be building on it for approx 8-10 years,” said Kristy Teele in her objection.
“There is an agricultural field that I was told would remain in use as such with proposed houses being further afield.”
She also questioned how much strain the new development would put on existing services in Upton.

“There seems to be no consideration of traffic issues, schools and GP surgeries and the extent to which they are not able to accommodate an influx of people without significant revampment,” she said.
“I would like to know what the local council are planning to do about services if this ludicrous plan goes ahead.”
Mr and Mrs Bannister said the development would spoil the views they currently enjoy from their garden.
“Low fencing at the bottom of the garden was already installed presale - selling us the wonderful views of the Malvern hills along with the countryside, which was the main factor in purchasing this property,” they said.
“Whilst the new properties will be able to enjoy the wonderful views we all currently have, how is it fair for those of us that have invested so much of our money into our homes with the current views, to have this now taken from us?
“We hope that this horrendous plan will be carefully rethought for the sake of the current residents.”
A commenter on the Malvern Gazette website said: “Are the developers going to extend the already stretched Upton surgery, or perhaps build a new and improved county hospital?
“I appreciate that this is happening in many areas, but it's clear that the basic infrastructure is now not fit for purpose in many areas.”
Others pointed out that there is a shortage of homes and that this site is not on the green belt.
Kendrick Homes declined to comment at this stage of the planning process.
