WORLD War Two planes are to take part in a festival flypast which will raise vital funds for a Worcester hospice. 

The World War Double Spitfire Flypast (the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight) is due to take place at Woofest at the Drum and Monkey near Upton upon Severn on Saturday, July 8. 

The iconic Supermarine Spitfire was critical in defeating Luftwaffe air attacks during the Battle of Britain in 1940. Organisers say the exact time of the flypast is not agreed but it will likely be between noon and 2pm.

Last year a Hurricane flew over the festival, entertaining crowds after the event returned to the field for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic. 

This year's family event is due to take place on Friday, July 7 and Saturday, July 8. 

The music starts at 6.30pm on Friday, featuring Nick Parker, Junction 7, Tazmin, Ruben Seabright Trip and DMDB.

The Saturday lineup includes Kevin Davy White, Val Sinclair with Mood Indigo, Loose Lips, Tasha Leaper as Madonna, Immy and the Boatman and Friends, Erica Jeab, The Marrs Bar House Band, Echo Gecco, Split Second, Terry Walls, Woo Town, The Oddbox Band, All Killer, Eleonore and special Ibiza Classics. 

Woo Fest is raising money for St Richard's Hospice in Worcester - with all money from tickets, camping and all profits from the food, raffle and games will go directly to the charity.

Woo Fest music festival is an award-winning multi-genre music festival for all ages that raises. Since its launch in 2015, it has raised over £110,000 with every single penny from every ticket going to the hospice.

In 2020 and 2021 they ran Woo Fest virtually thanks to DRPG before returning to the field in 2022. 

Woo Fest was initially set up in memory of a local man, John Simons, who died at St Richards Hospice in 2013 aged 66.
