A BANK branch in Malvern is set to close.
The Halifax on Church Street will shut before the end of the year.
The firm says the decision comes amid an ongoing shift towards digital banking.
A letter on the Halifax website states: “The world is becoming more digital than ever before and more of our customers are doing their everyday banking online.
“With more customers choosing to use digital ways to bank and manage their money, visits at this branch have fallen.
“As a result, we've made the difficult decision to close it.”
The Church Street branch will close for good on November 6, 2023.
Halifax has said there will be a few options for customers in the town.
After the branch closes a Community Banker will begin visiting the area.
They will be able to offer support and guidance on the ways customers can bank with Halifax.
Those wishing to continue using a physical bank will have to go to Worcester.
In a review posted on the Halifax website, the firm states that the majority (39 per cent) of their customers in Malvern are 55-74.
Nearly three quarters of all customers using the Malvern branch (72 per cent) also use other Halifax branches, online banking or telephone banking.
Just 82 customers regularly used the Malvern branch in the 12 months to January 2023.
The review adds that there were 65 per cent fewer transactions at the branch in January this year, compared with January 2018.
