WALKERS will take to the Malvern Hills for the Mayor's Peaks Challenge.

The event, which will raise funds for Guide Dogs, takes place on Saturday, April 29 and sees participants taking on one of two walks.

A 15km walk takes you the full length of the Malvern Hills, over all 17 peaks, while a shorter 7km route takes in the main section of the hills including its highest point, the Worcestershire Beacon.

Registration for the longer walk will be in Priory Park from 8am with coaches leaving from 8.30am to take walkers to the starting point on the Bromesberrow Estate.

Those taking on the shorter walk can register from 10.15am until 11.30am before being taken to British Camp by bus.

All entrants will receive an event T-shirt and will be presented with a finishers medal by the mayor, Cllr Nick Houghton.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome and will be presented with a rosette at the finish. 

'A fantastic cause'

The event has been sponsored by Hills Ford, with dog rosettes and treats being supplied by Austin & Co.

Cllr Houghton said “This is a major fundraising event for the mayor’s charity and will help us reach our target of £10,000 to sponsor and name a Guide Dog Puppy.

“A huge thank you to the team at Hills Ford who are sponsoring the event T-shirts and medals, which means the whole entry fee will be donated to Guide Dogs.”
