A well-known sculpture in Malvern is being lit gold to celebrate a charity’s 50th anniversary.
The buzzards in Rose Bank Gardens will be bathed in gold light for three weeks in recognition of Malvern Community Action.
The charity has been helping the lonely and isolated members of the community for five decades - and has been celebrating reaching the milestone this year.
“So far we have had a flag mounted on the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, a 50th Anniversary Service at Great Malvern Priory, a photographic exhibition on Edith Walk and our former chairman completing the final Malvern leg as a Baton Bearer for the Commonwealth Games,” said a spokesperson.

As the end of the year comes into view, the latest tribute will be a prominent one in the town.
Thanks to Malvern Town Council, the buzzards will be lit up from Monday, November 21 to Monday, December 12 in the charity’s honour.
“Community Action offers a range of services to support local residents who may be lonely or isolated,” the spokesperson said.
Tackling loneliness and isolation in Malvern
“Our Community Transport project provides car transport for those without access to public transport as well as community minibus services covering Malvern, Upton and Tewkesbury.
“The minibuses are available for hire by local community groups and we also have two wheelchair accessible cars.
“We currently run two projects which address loneliness and social isolation: the Out & About project provides social outings for shopping trips, lunches, Sunday Teas and film club as well as visits to places of interest, while a Men’s Shed helps to develop social friendships at the same time as using or learning new skills such as woodwork.”
All of Community Action’s services are delivered by volunteers and they are planning to launch a new project soon.
The volunteer centre will help the charity recruit volunteers not only for its own services but also to support other community groups and charities.

The spokesperson added: “We are looking forward to serving our local community for the next 50 years and beyond.”
