VISITORS to a Worcestershire town should be reminded more of where its town hall should be.
That was the verdict of councillors in Upton Upon Severn, who discussed putting a new glass panel in at the town's Memorial Hall at a meeting last week.
Introducing the agenda item, deputy chairman Cllr Mike Morgan said visitors to the town had often said they were unaware of where the town hall actually is in the town.
Currently, the Memorial Hall has a glass panel above its doors which simply says "Memorial Hall".
Cllr Morgan proposed installing a new piece of glass advertising the fact it is the heaquarters of the town council.
He said: "From outside, for the last 70 years, it has said Memorial Hall and I am keen as a council that we recognise it as a council building.
"I don't want to change the name, I want Memorial Hall to stay on there, but there are lots of examples of really good glass sign writing around.
"What I would like to see is the words Memorial Hall as it currently is, but across the top having something that says Upton Upon Severn Town Council in smaller font."
Cllr Morgan said he felt visitors to the town would benefit from it as a number of people had told him they did not know which building was the town hall.
He added: "It could be good to get it done and at least investigate the cost."
When the idea came to the vote, councillors agred to defer it to the next meeting as there were only four councillors present on September 27.
