THE parts of Malvern expected to be used to build hundreds of new homes have been revealed.
The revised South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP), which sets out where thousands of new homes and key infrastructure will be built across the south of the county by 2041, has finally been made public and reveals a number of new sites including 594 new homes in Malvern and 376 new homes in towns and villages across the Malvern Hills district.
Up to 200 homes would be built at Cales Farm and 180 homes would be built on land to the south of Madresfield Road in Malvern, according to the updated SWDP, as well as 180 homes to the south of Guarldford Road.
More than a thousand homes are expected to be built in Malvern in the next 20 years with plans for 459 homes carried over from the previous SWDP and added to other sites.
Plans also include 71 homes for Martley, 44 new homes for Great Witley and 52 homes for Leigh Sinton.
The huge 800-home plan envisioned for Newland in north-east Malvern has not been removed from the updated SWDP and remains a key piece of work.
Aspirations of up to 70 homes being built at Upton Marina also remain in the refreshed SWDP as well as plans for 33 homes at the Barracks Store in Court Road next to Malvern College Playing Fields, 21 homes at Victoria Road car park, and 20 homes off Peachfield Road.
Other plans for up to 50 homes to the west of Upton near Tunnel Hill remain and new plans for 25 homes to the south of Old Malvern Road in Powick have also now been included.
The review of the plan has been hampered by years of setbacks but has now been published in its most complete form – almost three years later than originally planned.
The revised SWDP, which sets out how more than 11,000 new homes will be built across the south of the county by 2041, includes plans for a huge new 5,000-home town at Worcestershire Parkway station near Worcester and a massive new 2,000-home town at Throckmorton Airfield near Pershore, and an extra 1,000 new homes in Rushwick.
