THE owner of an independent cafe said she was left feeling upset and disappointed after a man vandalised the building.

CCTV footage appears to show a couple being thrown out of a taxi at about 11.40pm on Saturday (September 10).

The man appeared to be angry and was filmed taking out his frustration on the steps of London House Cafe in Malvern,

Cafe owner Susanna French said: "We have CCTV footage from the shop next door.

"It was 11.45 last week a couple was thrown out of the taxi into the street in front of our cafe.

"The taxi driver pushed them out and drove off and then the man went down on all fours on the steps at the cafe.

"Then he punched one of the steps and then lifted one of the slabs up in the air.

"I was very upset and disappointed but more disappointed because I just feel like why would you do that if you are angry about something, why would you take it out on someone else's property?

"People don't realise how difficult it is to run a business nowadays, the money doesn't just appear, you have to work hard for it.

"Every penny counts these days."

However, a kind customer has offered to fix the stairs free of charge.

The owner added: "I have all the material to fix the stairs, but I was not confident to do it myself.

"So someone offered to do it, he knows one of my staff members and he used to work in the area, so at the moment, I'm just paying for the price of the stairs.

"It will cost £50, which can be alot for a small business when you're not expecting it,  but it would've cost a lot more if I had to pay a builder.

"I think he's got a few people to help him so I'm going to reward them with a complimentary breakfast."

"Luckily we have a ramp and an additional door, so people can still access the cafe.

"But I wanted to share it on Facebook in the hope that we could find out who it is.

"I think it is a local person."
