A CELEBRATION event has been held in Malvern to mark the 50th anniversary of a charity helping in the community.
The special event at Malvern Priory was held to mark 50 years since the establishment of Community Action.
The organisation carries out good work in the community including community transport, social outings and the Malvern Men's Shed.
At the event, which was held on July 23, music was provided by Sabrina Voices, and there were also reminiscences from volunteers and clients past and present.
The charity was joined by deputy Lord Lieutenant Charles Morgan, Harriett Baldwin MP and Mayor of Malvern Cllr Nick Houghton and Chairman of Malvern Hills District Council, Cllr John Michael.
The event was led by Shell Perris of Imagine Ministries.
A spokesperson said: "We currently run two projects which address loneliness and social isolation: the "Out and About" project provides social outings for shopping trips, lunches, sunday teas and film club as well as visits to places of interest, while the Men’s Shed helps to develop social friendships at the same time as using or learning new skills such as woodwork.
"All Community Action’s services are delivered by volunteers and we are planning to launch a new project soon:a Volunteer Centre will help us recruit volunteers not only for our own services but also to support local community groups and charities.
"We are looking forward to serving our local community for the next 50 years and beyond."
