THE 'best and worst' GP surgeries in Malvern according to patients have been revealed as part of an annual NHS survey.
The top-rated practice in Malvern based on the results of the survey was St Saviour’s Surgery with 95 per cent of respondents saying their overall experience of the practice had been ‘good’.
High-scoring feedback was also given to New Court Surgery off Pickersleigh Road and Whiteacres Medical Centre with 90 and 85 per cent of those surveyed giving the same answer.
St Saviour’s Surgery in Merick Road also scored the highest marks among Malvern’s surgeries in other important categories such as how easy it is to get hold of the surgery over the phone, how helpful the surgery’s receptionists were and what patients' overall experience of making an appointment was.
The figures come from the NHS’s annual GP Patient Survey which reveals how Malvern’s doctor’s surgeries were rated between January and April this year.
The results showed that 96 per cent of respondents at St Saviour’s Surgery said it was easy to get hold of a GP over the phone, 97 per cent of those asked said that receptionists were helpful and 89 per cent of respondents said they had a ‘good’ experience when making an appointment.
According to the survey, 79 per cent of respondents said it was ‘easy’ to make an appointment at New Court Surgery compared to 70 per cent who said it was easy to get hold of a GP on the phone at the surgery.
Results also showed that 81 per cent of respondents at Whiteacres Medical Centre said it was easy to speak to the surgery on the phone and 74 per cent said it was easy to make an appointment.
There was much praise for the town’s receptionists in the survey with 93 per cent of respondents saying receptionists at New Court Surgery off Pickersleigh Road were helpful compared to 91 at Whiteacres Medical Centre in Maple Road and, despite receiving low scores in other categories, 88 per cent of respondents using Malvern Health Centre praised staff as helpful.
Malvern Health Centre in Pickersleigh Road came bottom among the town’s surgeries with 41 per cent of respondents saying it was easy to speak to a GP on the phone, just 45 per cent saying they had a ‘good’ experience when making an appointment and 66 per cent of people saying their overall experience of the surgery was ‘good’.
