A WORCESTER man has been sentenced to 50 weeks in prison for a string of offences that include physically and racially assaulting a police officer.
Mohammed Hussain, 34, racially abused a police officer in Malvern by using threatening words, abusive words, insulting words or disorderly behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress on April 9 2022.
Hussain pleaded guilty at Worcester Magistrates Court after previously pleading not guilty and was handed a prison sentence of 20 weeks due to the offence being an unprovoked attack of a serious nature.
He was also ordered to pay compensation of £100.
On the same day, Hussain also failed to provide a specimen of blood for a laboratory test in the course of an investigation into whether an offence had been committed.
Hussain also changed his plea to guilty for this offence and was subsequently disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 24 months.
On April 14, Hussain assaulted a police officer by beating, when the officer was acting in the exercise of his functions.
Hussain pleaded not guilty to this offence on April 26 but was found guilty on June 27.
He was committed to prison for a further 20 weeks to run concurrently with his previous sentence.
Hussain was also ordered to pay compensation of £300.
On the same day in Wheelbarrow Way, Malvern, Hussain also threatened the police officer with a lighter.
He also pleaded not guilty to this offence on April 26 but was found guilty on June 27.
Hussian was committed to prison for 26 weeks, consecutive with his other offences.
His total prison time has amounted to 50 weeks, with a total of £400 compensation to be paid by July 7 2023.
