A POPULAR charity walking challenge saw 75 walkers trekking through the Malvern Hills.
The Malvern Mayor's Peaks Challenge happened yesterday (Saturday, April 30) and saw walkers tackle the 17 peaks along the hills raising money for the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
Starting at Chase End Hill or British Camp, both walks follow the ridgeline to North Malvern Hill and end in the car park of the Mount Pleasant Hotel, where finishers were presented with medals, a t-shirt and a rosette for any pets that complete the walk.
A spokesperson for the event said: "We were blessed with some wonderful weather yesterday as walkers on the Mayors Peaks Challenge took to the hills to tackle either the long route from the Bromsberrow estate or the shorter route from British Camp.
"Approximately 75 walkers took part in this challenge, and everyone completed their chosen route, finishing in the car park of The Mount Pleasant hotel where they were awarded a finishers medal by the Mayor of Malvern.
"Both walks are challenging so a huge well done to everyone who completed the walk but special mention to the youngsters who completed the long walk and also to an octogenarian who also walked the 17km long walk."
The event was organised by Malvern Town Council and was sponsored by English Braids, the Mount Pleasant Hotel and Austin & Co.
The Mayor of Malvern Cllr Nick Houghton said "I was delighted to be able to award finishers medals and dog rosettes at the end of the Mayor Peaks challenge.
"I would like to thank everyone who took part, both walks are challenging, and finishers should be proud of their achievements and raising available funds for the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
