JOGGERS from Malvern raised nearly £4,000 for the humanitarian effort in Ukraine in an epic running challenge.
The Malvern Joggers took part in the 12-hour relay from the Unicorn pub in the town to the top of the hills, raising more than £3,800 in the process.
The relay was done to raise money for the DAC Ukraine Appeal and involved joggers carrying the Ukrainian flag and showing their support at the weekend (March 26).
An update from the group's website said: "Yesterday wasn’t just about raising money for such an important cause; it was about this great club coming together as a community and showing it’s true colours.
"By donating, helping, marshalling, baking, running and walking with friends and family, you were all part of something very special yesterday.
"The staggering total amount raised was £3,885 (plus Gift Aid), what an achievement."
In addition to the relay, which saw joggers go up and down the hills several times, a cake sale held by the club helped raise more than £500 for the overall total.
Entrants in the relay paid £10 to take part, running or walking between the Unicorn Pub and the top of the Worcestershire Beacon in 15 minute waves, for 12 hours.
The club is still raising money for the DAC appeal, with their fundraising page live at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mjrunning4ukraine
The Malvern Joggers relay is the latest in a number of fundraising events in Malvern.
Earlier this month, the Malvern Buzzards running club staged a 24-hour relay between Great Malvern, Malvern Link and Barnards Green.
The group managed to raise £7,000 for the DAC appeal, with 54 Buzzards members taking part in the March 11 run.
