A NEW drinking spot on the Malvern Hills has finally opened its doors.

After three years of work, the new taproom at Malvern Hills Brewery began welcoming in customers this month.

The new taproom, designed to be a more intimate and closer drinking experience, is the culmination of years of planning and work to renovate the West Malvern site.

With beers brewed next door, the taproom has a range of offerings including Black Pear Bitter, Olicana pale ale and Trevor's Stout, named after Trevor Marston, former landlord of the Brewers Arms.

Frances Casey, sales director, said the first week had been promising, with customers enjoying the taproom throughout.

She said: "Saturday night at the Tap Room was amazing.

"Seeing the smiling faces and the surprise on people’s faces was just fantastic.

"There were people chatting from table to table and getting to know each other, or catching up with friends - we could not be happier with the outcome.

"We started this journey back in 2019, then Covid hit.

"However, we persevered and continued with our dream to provide an informal meeting place for the local community.

"Opening the Tap Room will allow the locals and visitors to the area a designated point of interest where we will be able to showcase our beers, many of which are called after local luminaries.

"We have two requests from our visitors, please leave the premises quietly and respect our neighbours, the other is to have a very enjoyable time."

Originally planned back in 2019, Covid hit the progress of the taproom, with brewer and owner Julian Hawthornthwaite working round the clock to make sure everything was ready for its opening this year.

The taproom opens from Thursday to Sunday from 6pm to 10pm.

Groups of between 10 and 25 people can book the taproom for Sunday nights, call 01684 560165 to reserve a space.

The bar is card only and under-25s are not allowed in.
