New images show what a vital new roundabout near Upton is to look like.
Work has been ongoing at the junction of the A38 and A4104 to change it from a staggered crossroads to a full roundabout.
This is so the notorious accident spot can be safer for motorists and improve journey times.
Throughout February, work will continue with more materials being brought to the site, building up to the level of the road.
Drain works are continuing across the site, with temporary traffic lights installed while Severn Trent install a new rising water main for the area.
These will be in place for up to a fortnight.
Cllr Martin Allen, chairman of the community liaison group, said: "The committee last met on December 8 and community leaders and residents seemed to be mainly happy with the progress.
"Currently the drains are going in along with much of the base layer of stones.
"The progress made has been really good, the lack of rain has really helped.
"As the local County Councillor I am really pleased to see this project going in smoothly, I welcome the bat friendly street lighting that is going to be installed.
"Although there are the inevitable traffic delays with a project of this magnitude, I do believe the irritation of hold-ups today will fade when the project is completed and an accident blackspot has been eradicated."
Along with the main work, there will be a two-night road closure of the A4104 from February 17 so the drains can be connected.
The work is expected to now be completed by the end of summer 2022.
Concerns were first raised about the high levels of traffic on the busy junction by West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin in 2015 and several tests were eventually carried out by the council in 2018.
The current configuration of the road means long queues as traffic tries to join and cross from the Upton and Defford directions at peak times during the day, during the busy summer festival period and when local events are on.
The work has been funded by Worcestershire County Council and the Department for Transport in a multi-million pound improvement scheme.
Councillor Alan Amos, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “Works on the scheme to construct a brand new four arm roundabout to replace the current A38/A4104 staggered junction near Upton-upon-Severn are progressing well.
“This major scheme will make a huge difference to those using the route, especially at peak periods of the day.
"The new roundabout will reduce queuing traffic on the A38 and provide improved access to the A4104 from the A38 and the improved shared walkway will also improve the area for those using alternative modes of transport.
“This is another example of the Council’s commitment to relieving congestion at the county’s busiest hotspots.”
