IT has been a busy start to Christmas for firefighters across Worcestershire.

The bad weather on Christmas Eve brought an extra challenge to fire crews from Worcester tackling a chimney fire.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, the crew from Worcester managed to extinguish the fire at a home in Whittington at just after 7pm.

Crews from Droitwich and Worcester were called to a vehicle Fire on the M5 southbound near junction 5 (Droitwich/A38) at just before midnight (December 24).

The fire was extinguished by crews and the incident was handed over to Highways West Midlands.

A car crashed into the front of a building in Inkberrow on Christmas Eve at just before 7.30pm.

Crews from Redditch, Droitwich and a Warwickshire Fire and Rescue crew from Alcester made the building safe.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said the crash closed the road for the duration of the incident.

West Mercia Police officers were at the scene along with a team from Western Power Distribution.

In the early hours of this morning (Saturday), firefighters helped to remove an injured person trapped in a car following a crash.

Crews from Bromsgrove helped West Mercia Police and paramedics get the casualty out of the vehicle.

It followed a crash in Stoke Heath, near Bromsgrove, at 1.05am.
