ANOTHER multi-million pound care home is coming to Malvern.
Barchester Healthcare is working with J Tomlinson to build the £6million home, which will be known as Elgar Court.
Work will be getting underway on the three-storey care building as well as the addition of landscaping and parking for 27 vehicles.
The ground floor will consist of the main kitchen, laundry room, plant room, staff offices, hairdressers, a large lounge and 18 bedrooms.
The first floor requires a separate specification to the ground floor and second floor as this will be specifically dedicated to accommodating dementia care residents.
This specialised floor will contain 27 bedrooms, two lounge areas and a large dining area.
Tony Shenton, managing director of J Tomlinson’s care division, commented: "We’re excited to be working with Barchester Healthcare on the creation of their newest care home.
"Working in the centre of a popular residential estate with nearby industrial units, our core focus will revolve around minimising disruption to local residents whilst working closely with our client to deliver a high-quality facility that facilitates the provision of first-class, resident-centric care."
Senior property development manager at Barchester, Andrew Williams, commented: "We are really excited to get this project under way.
"Elgar Court Care Home will be a fantastic addition to the local community."
Barchester Healthcare is one of the UK’s largest care providers supporting more than 12,000 residents across 248 homes for short breaks to long-term stays.
Many Barchester homes feature a Memory Lane Community, which is a dedicated part of the home designed to support residents who are living with various stages of Alzheimer’s or dementia stay as independent and active as possible.
Barchester has dedicated services that provide specialist care for those who require neuro rehabilitation, as well as care for those with Parkinson’s or Huntington’s disease.
Barchester has six independent mental health hospitals that offer functional and organic mental health services.
When Elgar Court opens in 2022, it is set to be the second multi-million pound care home in the town.
We previously reported on Windsor Court, an £8million care home at the former Malvern Community Hospital.
