A COCAINE snorting dad was caught buying the 'high purity' class A drug in Malvern when he was at a 'low ebb'.
Genti Aliaj bought 5.811g of the drug in Malvern. The 30-year-old admitted possession of cocaine when he appeared before magistrates in Worcester on Thursday after he was caught with the drug on November 21 last year. It was 5pm when a Volkswagen Golf was stopped by police in Summerfield Road, Malvern.
Shafquat Reaz, prosecuting, said: "The defendant was a front seat passenger and it was believed a drug deal was occurring. This defendant was taken to the police station, searched and found within his clothing were 5.811g of cocaine.
"This was tested and confirmed to be between 93 and 95 per cent purity."
The prosecutor said the amount found was consistent with personal use. "There was no indication of any street dealing or any intention to supply drugs to anyone else" he added.
Aliaj was also a man of previous good character.
Kully Delay, defending, said of the father: "He's never been in trouble before." He said his client had been at a low ebb and was 'using the drug in order to give him a lift'.
"He's not someone who is going to darken the doors of this court again in my respectful submission" he said.
He explained that his client was from Albania, arriving in the UK in 2012 and had 'no income at this stage'.
Magistrates fined Aliaj of Hagley Road West, Oldbury £100 and ordered him to pay court costs of £185 and a victim surcharge of £32.
