MALVERN Rugby Club soon wiped out the memory of last week's one-point home defeat to demolish fellow promotion hopefuls Burton 17-42 away.
Director of rugby David Robins was full of superlatives, and said: "The first half was as close as you could get to total rugby' at our level of the game. Chris Hooper was my man-of-the-match - Burton just didn't know how to cope with him and he set up so many moves running from deep.
"Ted Lang was excellent at inside centre until his unfortunate injury, but everyone played an immense part in dismantling the challenge of what had been the form team recently. It was fairly even in the set pieces up front, but we had the edge all the way through in the loose, our whole eight showing the doggedness that went missing last week.
"Stewart Clarke and Adam Dixon, two products of our Youth section, showed they are maturing well; Owen Jones is a great new find whilst Richard Hobbs continues to impress. Moving Richard Fleming from centre to wing paid off, especially as he went looking for the ball and was unlucky not to have a hat-trick.
"With Hereford and Lichfield both losing and Walsall coming up on the rails, at the halfway mark it's still a tight league and I feel that we will be called on to play many more games in the same vein if we are to maintain our position. The good news is that I believe we have the squad to do it."
