A HEDGEHOG has been rescued by the fire service after it fell into a hole.

Cinders was stuck upside down under a stop tap and could not get out.

Viv Smith, who runs Malvern Hedgehog Rescue, said: "A member of the public called me around 8pm on Sunday to say he'd found her at the bottom stuck under a stop tap.

"I tried getting her out but she was stuck.

"I called the fire service and a crew was sent out to help from Upton-upon-Severn.

"They removed the pipe surrounding the stop tap as it was found to not be fixed and got Cinders out.

"She was in a bad way when I took her home - hyperthermic and she was underweight.

"I named her Cinders as the fire service rescued her and I got her home at midnight."
