THE people of Pickersleigh Road are right to be worried about harm to their health from a Hutchison 3G mast, should it be erected and operated near their homes.
People do get sick from the radiation from that type of transmitter.
But I write to comment on the last part of your piece (Malvern Gazette, May 25), where Hutchison 3G corporate affairs manager Mike Dobson stated that: "No other alternative site has been found that would work for us."
Hutchison does not find the sites itself. It uses freelance agencies, which locate a willing landlord who will accept a mast and base station on their premises. These agents only get paid if planning permission is obtained for the actual site.
Consequently, once they have located a landlord and obtained his signature they look no further, because they need their expenses paid, and examining other sites erodes their earnings.
I am convinced this is the reason why "No other alternative site has been found".
