SINGERS from Malvern St James school are taking part in a concert as part of the celebration marking the 150th anniversary of Sir Edward Elgar's birth, The concert features talented young musicians across Worcestershire, under the direction of Dr Donald Hunt OBE, a world authority on Elgar. The girls will be performing choral miniatures which Elgar composed especially for young people.
Lynne Lindner, director of music at Malvern St James said: "The girls loved learning these songs, with their poetry and Elgar's music evoking images of the beautiful scenery around Malvern.
"It has been a great privilege working with Dr Hunt who has been able to provide the girls with the insight to interpret the subtleties, detail and delicate shaping of each miniature."
All are welcome to the concert on Friday, June 1, at 1 pm in All Saints Church, Deansway, Worcester.
