DONKEYS took centre stage in Great Malvern last weekend for this year's Donkey Procession.

Bluebell, Daisy, Peter and Bluey caught the attention of shoppers once again, led by Reverend Val Needham, as did singers who were performing Christmas carols and hymns.

The event went ahead in aid of charity Safe Haven for Donkeys in the Holy Land, and the procession was led by six year-old Grace Guidicotti-Poplawski.

It got underway at 11.30am outside the Abbey Hotel and passed the Post Office and Tourist Information Centre, went down Church Street to Malvern Theatres, where the donkeys were then part of a nativity play.

Finally, the event was finished by carols singing at the theatre.

The charity aims to help some of the donkeys facing overwork and cruelty in Israel and the Palestinian areas.
