RESIDENTS and local groups with an interest in tourism are welcome to attend a special event at Upton's Memorial Hall this Monday evening.
Four workshops will be held to discuss various aspects of tourism in Upton, including arts and events, the River Severn, marketing, and improving the town's attitude to visitors and appearance.
It is also hoped that local groups such as the Upton Tourism and Trade Association will put up displays at the event showing some of the work they are already doing.
The event is being organised by Malvern Hills District Council and members of the Upton Towns Partnership, as part of the new Better Wel-come initiative to help tourist towns develop their potential.
Malvern Hills District Council leader, Serena Croad said Upton's riverside setting was perfect for tourism.
"I hope local people and community groups will take the opportunity to let us know how we can identify and support their ideas," she said.
Upton Tourism and Trade Association chairman Peter Webb said the scheme could lead to Upton receiving a sizeable grant for improvements.
"The aim is to try and get more visitors into the town and events like this are a good way to raise awareness," he said.
