IN your report of the council election results you stated that deputy leader Clive Smith was "thrown out".
Imagine my surprise when I studied the results and saw that he was beaten by a mere seven votes, hardly a throwing out by any stretch of the imagination.
Clive has represented the Link Ward at district level since 1979 and has built up a deserved reputation as a hard working representative of all the electors that he represents. The recent result shows that when there is a surge against any administration the wheat gets thrown out with the chaff albeit by the narrowest of margins.
To conclude we are indeed fortunate that Clive Smith still represents the Link on the county council and will still be able to serve the people he represents in the same manner that he has done down the years.
