PEOPLE with a passion for singing are being encouraged to make their voices heard with an informal Malvern choir.
The Sing for Pleasure choir celebrates its 21st anniversary this year and wants to recruit the talents of more local people. Open to singers of all ages and abilities, the choir offers members the chance to practise in a relaxed and pressure-free environment.
It meets as a recreational weekly evening class at Malvern Hills College, during term-times and members can enrol for a single term or stay on as long as they wish.
Spokesman Linda Collins said: "Members are friendly and welcoming and sessions are sociable and informal.
"There's no requirement for prior musical knowledge and beginners are well-supported, while more experienced singers are able to improve their skills and broaden their repertoire."
Many choir members have developed into experienced singers under the expert tuition of teacher and conductor Carol Green, who has led the choir for most of its 21 years. A wide range of material, from madrigals and folk songs to modern pop is covered by the group.
Three end-of-term concerts are performed each year, two at the college and the third in a local church at Easter.
"We're keen to recruit new members in all four sections - soprano, alto, tenor and bass, and we particularly need tenors and basses," said Linda.
"Even if you've never sung in a choir before, this is something anyone can do - the only thing you need is your voice."
The group meets on Tuesdays from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Malvern Hills College.
