AFTER months of organising by the committee, this weekend the Bosbury Cider and Blossom Festival takes place in and around the parish hall and the Temple Court orchards.
The festival will be opened at 10.30am by Maureen Weston. Main events include: Weston cider dray and horses, local ciders and apple juices for tasting, duck races, barbecue, exhibition of cider making and local activities, tea, coffee and lunches, children's activities including bouncy castle, bran tub, skittles, face painting, display of vintage cars, display of shire horses, maypole dancing, cake and pudding competition and farmers' market stalls.
The May queen competition for key stage two children and the May queen attendant for key stage one children will take place at 11am. Following the judging and crowning they will tour the village on the Weston's dray.
There will be two guided tours of the blossom orchards starting from the parish hall at 12.45pm and 2.30pm. Both will be led by Gerald Blandford, of Temple Court, and Chris Fairs, a Bulmers orchard expert, with a wealth of knowledge to impart. Ticket prices are: adults £3.50, family £9, unaccompanied under 18s £2.
On Sunday, May 20, at 3.30pm at a special service at Hereford Cathedral, The Rev. Sue Strutt will be installed as a prebendary. To receive this ancient title is an honour and Sue will have a special named stall in the cathedral and will now wear a blue cassock instead of black. Everyone is welcome to join friends and parishioners at the service to celebrate Sue's ministry of the hop churches over the last ten-and-a-half-years.
