ON Saturday, a plenary session of the newly formed Leigh Church Heritage Group met at Sandlin to discuss the progress of current projected fundraising activities and to add even more ideas to the steadily growing list.
This column will advertise the next plenary meeting and new members will be warmly welcomed. Although many of those attending are regular churchgoers, this group is primarily engaged in the preservation of a magnificent ancient monument and a warm welcome would be extended to anyone whose principal interest is in history or architecture.
The only expectation of any member of the group is that he or she should have a fundraising idea, however modest, which that person will be prepared to carry through.
The steering committee will provide advice, support and contacts. More details in the local magazine, The Sphere.
Final rehearsals are now taking place for the Parish Players' performance of its musical entertainment at Leigh and Bransford Village Hall on May 19 at 7.30pm. In addition to its varied and light-hearted cabaret, a meal and a glass of wine will be included in the £10 ticket. If past productions are anything to to go by, this should be an excellent evening. Make sure you don't leave it too late to buy a ticket. All proceeds will be donated to the south aisle roof appeal.
