MUSIC From Old Vienna is the title of a concert by the English Symphony Orchestra Winds at Huntingdon Hall, Worces-ter, on Sunday, May 20, at 3pm.
Members of the ESO wind section will be playing popular 18th Century community music by Haydn and Mozart at the Worcester Concert Club event. The music, arranged and directed by Malvern composer Derek Smith, will include three short works by Haydn, his Neapolitan Serenades, and in the second half there will be the premiere of Derek Smith's realisation of Mozart's Divertimento KV247.
Both Mozart and Haydn first became famous as composers of popular community music, often played outside on bandstands or for folk dances, weddings and funerals.
The concert is part of the current re-emergence of the ESO after its financial difficulties last year.
Tickets, costing £12.50, are available from Huntingdon Hall on 01905 611427.
