ENGINEERING firm Malvern Instruments opened its doors to pupils to given them an insight into its operations during an open day.

Students from Malvern St James and Malvern College, who are interested in science or engineering, discovered how the firm operates on a daily basis and were shown how many of its products work during demonstrations.

As well as seeing the Mastersizer 3000 in action, measuring particle sizes in chocolate, and a 3D printer, the 24 pupils were also given presentations from employees, at all levels, about the various routes into science and engineering careers.

A spokeswoman for the firm, in Enigma Business Park, said: "The students left feeling energised and inspired. An enjoyable and enlightening day was had by all."

The open day, on Tuesday June 23, went ahead in support of National Women in Engineering Day.

The annual event aims to raise the profile of women in engineering, and celebrate their success.
