Heidi Smith runs the domestic appliance section of Express TV, having joined the family business in 1996, initially working alongside her father, Brian, mother Barbra and brother, Heath

“Mum and dad are enjoying their retirement now and so it’s me and Heath, his wife Wendy and our team of brilliant staff working hard to drive the business forward to our 55th anniversary next year and beyond.

“We all consider ourselves lucky to be able to live and work around Malvern, where there is still a sense of community and where mercifully the local shopping centres are in pretty good health.”

Express TV has been selling domestic appliances for nearly 30 years and they now account for a bigger proportion of business than ever before.

“We have always been all about service and we can add so much benefit to our customers’ experience of buying, say, a washing machine where we routinely deliver and install the product, test it and take away the old machine.

“Many of our online competitors use third party carriers for delivery and leave you to work the rest out for yourself, but I am amazed that shoppers find this acceptable.” As well as the Espresstv.co.uk website, the business actively promotes its association with Euronics.

Heidi explains “Euronics belongs to independent electrical retailers like ourselves across the whole country. Its website gives customers the opportunity to see a range of products which is much larger than we have room to display in store as well as some fantastic deals achieved through huge buying power.

“It gives us the chance to offer great choice, great value but still maintain the service levels which make us special.”
