MALVERN Town suffered their 15th defeat in 21 West Midlands Football League Premier Division games 4-2 at Shawbury United.
They have a Worcestershire derby at Bewdley Town tomorrow (3pm) before hosting titlechasing Black Country Rangers next Wednesday (7.45pm).
Facing a strong Shawbury wind, keeper Nick Astley tipped over an 11th-minute Malvern free-kick before Lee Hooper’s effort was then cleared off the line.
But Shawbury took a 28thminute lead when Tom Rogers headed in a free-kick.
They scored again just two minutes later through Dale Williams and added a third a minute before the break when Chris Allen’s pass was intercepted by Rogers who slotted home.
Seven minutes into the second period, Malvern’s Harry Wickett was fouled and Hooper buried the resulting penalty.
Malvern goalkeeper Charles Weaver made a superb double save but Louis Loader was only denied at the other end by a defensive clearance.
However, Shawbury added a fourth goal on 74 minutes through Dan Beddows before Malvern netted a consolation three minutes from time through Andre Rodrigues
