THE second round of the MUAA winter league saw another good turnout gathered at the club's pool in Mathon.
The pool was low and clear and this affected the sport. Jeff Roberts, returning this season to the Malvern club took this one. Pegged on 19, Jeff fished a pole to take one small carp and a couple of roach for a total of 2-12-0.
Second spot went to John Barr who employed waggler and maggot tactics on peg 5 to take a net of small roach and perch with the odd better sample for a net of 1-13-0.
Neil Humpage framed again, drawn on peg 15 after a couple of biteless hours Neil had to scale right down to winkle out a net of tiny perch and roach which went 12 ounces on the scales and gave him third place.
Fur and feather
THE next contest is the annual Fur & Feather match.
Meat Vouchers are up for grabs for the winners and traditionally everyone brings a bottle or similar seasonal offerings so nobody goes away empty handed.
Festive fayre will be on offer before and after the contest, so all members are welcome.
The match is due to be fished on the Severn at Holdfast on Sunday, December 10, draw 9.30am, fish 10am.
If the rivers are unfishable then it will be held on the pool. Notices will be posted at Holdfast on the morning of the contest if its moved.
