THE January meeting of Ledbury WI was well attended.
President Margaret Coulson welcomed members and, after a minimal amount of business she welcomed the speaker Judy Conway.
Judy shared the highlights of a busy year she had spent as Mayoress of Ledbury.
Members heard how with her husband Allen they sometimes would attend three functions in a day, having to wear a different outfit for each one.
Their chosen charity for the year was St. Michaels Hospice for which they have raised an incredible amount of money, she also told of the untiring work of Mike Pullin and the Hospice Angels.
They had the privilege of meeting the Queen and on another occasion the Princess Royal.
Allen and Judy had both enjoyed the experience of the year as Mayor and Mayoress of Ledbury. They are still raising money for the Hospice and Judy is hiring out her hats for a donation to the Hospice which is planning an £8 million refurbishment programme.
Margaret Shotbolt had prepared an extensive questionnaire regarding the future of Denman College.
The next meeting is 7.30pm on February 13 at the Parish Room, Catholic Church, New Street, Ledbury.
Members will be delighted to welcome Kenneth Reeve who will talk on his Experience as a WW2 Evacuee.
