A WORCESTERSHIRE schoolgirl is hoping to win enough votes to make it through to the finals of a national Teen Queen competition.
Abi Grimshaw, from Colwall, near Malvern, is currently competing in the heats of the TeenQueenUK competition.
Her heat ends on January 31 and she needs enough public votes to get her into the top three if she is going to win through to the final, where she would have chance to impress celebrity judges at Alexandra Palace.
The 15-year-old, a pupil at Worcester’s Royal Grammar School, was scouted for the competition while visiting the Clothes Show in Birmingham last month and has since been for a professional photoshoot.
Her mum, Alison Grimshaw, said Abi was excited to be scouted but then did not think too much more about it.
But the family’s answerphone messages were playing up over Christmas and it was not until the start January they discovered competition organisers had been trying to contact Abi to say she was through to the next stage.
“She went for the photoshoot and really enjoyed that and now she would love to make the final,” said Mrs Grimshaw.
“A big part of the appeal is that some of the finalists will get a chance to go and see the work of the charities the competition supports. She would really love that – helping others is Abi all over.”
