A RECORDING session by some top jazz musicians helped raise £180 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Phil Probert, from Colwall, gathered together his “Jazzmates” Vo Fletcher, Dayne Cranenburgh and Martin Emeny to record a CD in the Colwall Park Hotel.
The quartet originally joined forces for a one-off gig back in 2011 and decided to reunite and record together “for the fun of it”.
They opened the session up and attracted an audience of almost 100 people, who gave generously to a bucket collection.
As well as the enthusiastic crowd, they were also joined by some notable guest musicians for certain numbers – including Ric Sanders, of group Fairport Convention.
Iain Nesbitt, owner of the Colwall Park Hotel, said: “They decided to record warts ‘n’ all to a live audience, because they feel that's what they’re in business to do. A great time was had by all.”
