WE started our new year by returning to monthly meetings to be held on the second Tuesday of the month at Madresfield Club.

After the silent tribute and wishing everyone a happy and peaceful new year, the chairman detailed the future prospects of the branch and emphasised the need for the support of new younger members.

Most urgent is the absolutely desperate need to appoint a new Poppy Appeal organiser.

With Lyn standing down this year, if we cannot fill this post, the RBL may cease to function in Powick and Callow End as the PAO is the most important office in the branch.

On a happier note we were delighted to welcome Geoff Moore, who comes with a wealth of background experience and which we are all keen to learn about in the future.

Future meetings will involve a light-hearted and entertaining interlude with the help of input from members.

To start the ball rolling our chairman gave a vivid and humorous account of his childhood experiences and activities while growing up in London during the Second World War.

Next month we will be treated to some memoirs of Peter James entitled My First Station.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 12, at Madresfield Club at 8.15pm.
