“OYEZ! Oyez!” Thus the speaker of the evening could be identified – Jim Pearman, town crier of Kidderminster.
He was most resplendent in his official uniform and members heard how the role of the town crier had developed from its origins in biblical times to the present day.
Jim demonstrated his prowess but not at full volume, although the ringing of his official bell nearly deafened members.
The meeting was chaired by Pam Bevan as president Stella had slipped a disc but is improving slowly. The next meeting will be on Thursday, February 7, when Lynne Adams will be speaking about quilts and blankets for children. There will also be a bring and buy stall.
Any ladies wishing to join will be made most welcome.
